I can see that it's been a while since I've had a chance to add news and pics to the blog. We've been doing well and I'm staying super busy with work, which is a good thing. I finally forced myself to focus and post some new stuff for everyone to read!

In an effort to keep ourselves entertained, the kid and I have been trying to get out a little more often. Kaya's really enjoying her Girl Scouts troop this year and they've been pretty busy with activities. Last week, we went out with Nana, Bill, and Jennifer to enjoy some Japanese food in Pasadena.

I had my first ever piece of sushi. I can say that, while not terrible tasting, the texture will keep this terriyaki and tempura girl away from raw seafood for a while :) We had a good time, though, and shared tons of giggles over the mysterious "fruit" placed in the bottom of my drink. Still not 100% sure what they were, but you can decide for yourself when you look at the photo! Saturday, we checked out Tijuana, Mexico for the day. Somehow, Mom managed to convince me to leave a lot later thatn I would have prefered. The drive down was blissfully traffic free. A lunch stop in Old Town San Diego and then we were over the border.

I really wanted to see Puerto Nuevo but, given my current condition, Mom kept me close to the border in case of an emergency. It was okay and pretty much what I had expected. I didn't get too many pictures because I was too afraid of being robbed!! It wasn't that bad :) Kaya ended up with a puppet which she decided to name "Lupe" and I got a beautiful mirror surrounded with

tin and tiles. It goes great with the house so I was pleased. I hope to head into Mexico again after the New Year for a better trip, to include some deep fried lobster and wrought iron. Maybe a poncho with a llama on it! Oh, and for a quick update on my medical drama. I have surgery scheduled for the first week of December. I met the surgeon yesterday and really liked her. Although, she had tiny, delicate hands which didn't make for an enjoyable handshake. But, I guess if you need to have someone digging around in your body with a knife, you want someone with a light touch. Right?
