This year marked the 30th anniversary of my birth. Since I am the first of all my siblings to reach this milestone (though Shayne beat me to it a looooong time ago!) I decreed that my family should join me in celebation! It was so fun and tiring to have everyone over and the house was full of people and stuff. It was a great opportunity to take the fam to see the White House, Capital building and check out some monuments. Though we kept everything low-key, it's always so nice when we get to see each other since it happens so rarely with everyone spread around the country.
It was also the first opportunity for Kaya to meet Kai and for Shayne to meet Amber and her family. We also went to the evening parade of the 8th and I Barracks Marines. That includes the silent drill team which we are all familiar with through the commercials. So cool!! It was both a relief and sad when everyone packed up to go but I was so tired! 
Some of the most entertaining moments involved making fun of Mom. It's true that no matter how old you are, teasing your parent never gets stale! She pulled out her classic "It's so hot and sticky" line in classic southern belle fashion which had us rolling. Thanks Mom!! Look at how drained I look in the picture below! Shocking!!
