Last Days in California

So this post is probably premature but, to alleviate my friends suffering of lust for the chocolate mousse (which I will make a HUGE batch of, just for her!), I'm going to touch on some of what the little dude and I have been up to.

Going Away Party

Saturday, Kaya and her friend had a huge party thrown for them in honor of one's birthday and the other's farewell. It was so sweet of the Hollands to do this and I can't express how touched I was. The kids had so much fun and soooo much pizza!! I tried to soak up the beautiful weather and lock in the memories so that I can look back and think "What wonderful people I lived among!"

Griffith Observatory

Sunday, we were fortunate enough to be invited to go visit a blast from my elementary school past to Griffith Observatory by Joel and Kate. So cool!! To see things that I remembered from 20 years ago (gulp! Did I just say 20?) and see all of the changes. The best by far were the cushy, reclining seats that they installed in the planetarium. A huge step up from the wooden seats with uncomfortable head rests. I'm embarrassed to report that when they cued the "night sky with millions of stars", I teared up. Talk about feeling awed, tiny, and insignificant! They also added an awesome area underground detailing each planet and hands-on meteorites. I would like to add that I would weigh 2 pounds on Pluto. I may switch the move from VA to the far reaches of our solar system! The girls had fun and Joel and I decided that we were twins, seperated at birth since we have so much in common. I will say that when you reach a point in life where you're taking your child to do something that you did at the same age, it's weird! And cool.
