After almost a month of nasty, head-ache causing, stress inducing office tension it was finally "Thank God it's Fire-day"! It's true. Six of the office staff (yours truly included) were laid off. I couldn't be happier. It's like the shot that you're dreading from the doctor but, once it's over, you find that it wasn't nearly as bad as you thought. There were some tears. I've been doing this work for almost three years. I was prepared, though. I saw this coming for a while since some not so subtle hints were passed my way. I knocked out the application and interview with a staffing agency, prepped a resume on usajobs.gov, and lined up the support system i would need for my remaining time in California. Being such a good little saver these last few months, plus my severance pay, gave me the cushion I needed to enjoy a 4 week long vacation before annual training starts up. I also get to get moving on packing, cleaning and painting at my own pace instead of cramming it in on the weekends. For every cloud, there is a silver lining. Sensing I might need more than Ben and Jerry's chilly comfort, Shayne booked a last minute flight to spend the long (and I mean loooooooong! hehehe) weekend with me. Hooray!
